Best Data Science Courses and Bootcamps in Kenya (2026): Fees, Length and Who Each Suits

• Career changer: Moringa School, for its long full-time track and 12 months of graduate support.
• Working professional: Zindua School's part-time track, held on weekday evenings and Saturdays.
• KCSE leaver: Strathmore's Certificate in Data Analytics and Visualization, a short university certificate, if your slip has a B plain with B in Maths and English.
• Budget-first: ALX, the lowest cash cost for a structured track, once it reopens in 2027.
• Needs accreditation: a CUE-accredited degree such as the Open University of Kenya's Bachelor of Data Science, since most bootcamps here publish none.
• Wants a degree: USIU-Africa's BSc in Data Science and Analytics on campus, or the Open University of Kenya online; both are on CUE's accredited list.

In alphabetical order, because our method gives no single score to rank by. Each block stands on its own: what the provider is, its programmes, who it suits, and its strengths and limits.

Africa Data School

Africa Data School is a Kenya-based online school with a short data science and machine learning course and a Power BI class run with Learnly Africa.

Who it suits: Beginners who want a short, low-cost first course before they commit to a longer programme.

Strengths: The lowest published fee of the shilling-priced data science courses here, with an outline that reaches deep learning.

Limits: The intake dates shown had passed when we checked, and prerequisites and projects are not published.

ALX

ALX is a pan-African online training company. Its Data Science and Data Analytics programmes sit inside an All Access subscription that covers every ALX course.

Data Science. Price: $5 a month or $49 a year (All Access). Length: 22 weeks, 20 hours a week. Format: Not published for 2027. Next intake: Opens 2027; 2026 enrolment closed. (Source: ALX, checked on 4 November 2026.)

Data Analytics. Price: $5 a month or $49 a year (All Access). Length: 7 weeks, 20 hours a week. Format: Not published for 2027. Next intake: Opens 2027; 2026 enrolment closed. (Source: ALX, checked on 4 November 2026.)

Who it suits: Self-starters on a tight budget who can study about 20 hours a week with nobody checking in.

Strengths: The lowest cash cost here for a structured, project-based track, payable by M-Pesa or Airtel Money.

Limits: Enrolment for 2026 is closed until 2027, the 2027 format is not published, and no career services are described.

CBK Institute of Monetary Studies

The Central Bank of Kenya's training institute, formerly the Kenya School of Monetary Studies, runs five-day data analytics and machine learning courses for the financial sector.

Data and machine learning short courses. Price: KES 120,000 per course. Length: 5 days per course. Format: In person, Nairobi. Next intake: Dated courses from 30 November 2026. (Source: CBK Institute of Monetary Studies, checked on 4 November 2026.)

Who it suits: Finance-sector staff whose employer pays for short professional training.

Strengths: Dated in-person courses in Nairobi built on finance problems such as credit risk.

Limits: Five days is an introduction, not a career change, and fees are set for employers.

College of Human Resource Management (CHRM)

CHRM is a Kenyan college with a three-month online data analytics short course examined by ICDL.

Data Analytics. Price: Not published. Length: 3 months. Format: Online, weekdays or Saturdays. Next intake: January, June, September. (Source: College of Human Resource Management (CHRM), checked on 4 November 2026.)

Who it suits: Office workers who want a short, examined introduction to analytics alongside a job.

Strengths: Day, evening and Saturday sessions, with an outside examiner.

Limits: The fee and modules are not published, and it covers analytics, not data science.

DataCamp

DataCamp is a worldwide online platform with hundreds of data courses, career tracks and its own certifications.

Premium subscription. Price: Free tier; Premium $13 a month billed yearly. Length: Self-paced. Format: Online, self-paced. Next intake: Start any time. (Source: DataCamp, checked on 4 November 2026.)

Who it suits: Daily practice next to another course, or a free test of whether data work suits you.

Strengths: A free tier, browser exercises with no setup, and projects in the paid plan.

Limits: No cohort, deadlines or human review, and its certifications are its own.

Digital Regenesys

Digital Regenesys is a South African online school with a Nairobi office. Its Data Science with AI course is sold in Kenya in shillings.

Data Science with AI. Price: KES 270,400; instalments offered. Length: 6 months (24 weeks). Format: Online, live and self-paced. Next intake: Not published. (Source: Digital Regenesys, checked on 4 November 2026.)

Who it suits: Working learners who want live online classes and can afford a six-month certificate.

Strengths: No coding needed to start, a capstone with deployed projects, and an IITPSA accreditation claim (a South African professional body).

Limits: The highest published fee on this page, and no intake date is published.

eMobilis

eMobilis is a technology institute in Westlands, Nairobi, whose three-month Data Science and Machine Learning course is aimed at people who already code.

Data Science and Machine Learning. Price: Not published. Length: 3 months. Format: Saturday classes, Westlands. Next intake: January, May, July. (Source: eMobilis, checked on 4 November 2026.)

Who it suits: Programmers who know Python or R and some statistics, and want machine learning on Saturdays.

Strengths: Clear prerequisites, a recommendation-system project, and three intakes a year.

Limits: The fee and class format are not published, and it is not for beginners.

Finstock Evarsity College

Finstock Evarsity is a Kenyan college with online certificates in data science and data analytics, each studied over two trimesters.

Certificate in Data Science. Price: KES 64,000 in total. Length: 8 months. Format: Online or on campus, Nairobi. Next intake: Not published. (Source: Finstock Evarsity College, checked on 4 November 2026.)

Certificate in Data Analytics. Price: KES 56,000 in total. Length: 8 months. Format: Online, self-study. Next intake: Not published. (Source: Finstock Evarsity College, checked on 4 November 2026.)

Who it suits: Learners with a modest KCSE grade who are happy to study mostly on their own, online.

Strengths: A total fee published line by line, payable per trimester, with entry from a D-.

Limits: Mostly self-study with exams set by the college, and its regulator logos do not say which applies to these courses.

GOMYCODE

GOMYCODE is a coding school that SwitchUp lists in Kenya and several other African countries. Course Report lists a 20-week data science bootcamp.

Data Science Bootcamp. Price: Not published for Kenya. Length: 20 weeks (Course Report). Format: Online, instructor-led (Course Report). Next intake: Not published. (Source: GOMYCODE, checked on 4 November 2026.)

Who it suits: Learners who want an instructor-led bootcamp and will confirm the Kenyan price and dates directly with the school.

Strengths: Schools in several African countries, with reviews on Course Report and SwitchUp.

Limits: Its Kenya site refused our check, so price, intake and entry rules are not published here.

Google on Coursera

Google's Data Analytics Professional Certificate is a self-paced online programme on Coursera, aimed at entry-level analyst jobs.

Data Analytics Professional Certificate. Price: $49 a month (US price); Coursera Plus $24 a month. Length: About 6 months at 10 hours a week. Format: Online, self-paced. Next intake: Start any time. (Source: Google on Coursera, checked on 4 November 2026.)

Who it suits: Beginners aiming at analyst roles first, who can study about ten hours a week.

Strengths: No background needed, a shareable capstone, and a monthly bill that stops when you finish.

Limits: The listed price is the US price, and its employer network does not name Kenya.

IBM on Coursera

IBM's Data Science Professional Certificate is a self-paced Coursera programme that runs from Python and SQL to machine learning and a capstone.

Data Science Professional Certificate. Price: Coursera Plus $24 a month; no course price shown. Length: About 4 months at 10 hours a week. Format: Online, self-paced. Next intake: Start any time. (Source: IBM on Coursera, checked on 4 November 2026.)

Who it suits: Beginners who want a Python-first start and can keep a study routine alone.

Strengths: Six projects and a capstone, browser labs, and ACE and ECTS credit recommendations.

Limits: No price of its own (it sits inside Coursera Plus), and no live teaching.

LuxDevHQ (Lux Tech Academy)

LuxDevHQ (Lux Tech Academy) is a Nairobi school whose Data Science and Analytics programme runs live online or in person.

Data Science and Analytics. Price: KES 50,000 online; KES 57,500 in person. Length: 6 to 8 months, with internship. Format: Live online or in person, Nairobi. Next intake: January 2027. (Source: LuxDevHQ (Lux Tech Academy), checked on 4 November 2026.)

Who it suits: Beginners on a budget who want a teacher, monthly projects and an internship stage.

Strengths: The lowest published fee of the Kenyan programmes here longer than three months, with instalments and detailed career help.

Limits: No accreditation is published, and the length includes internship time after 16 weeks of teaching.

McTaba Labs

McTaba Labs, the Nairobi studio that publishes this guide, runs Data Science to AI Engineering: a hybrid programme from Python to deployed machine learning and AI engineering.

Data Science to AI Engineering. Price: KES 140,000 (KES 120,000 upfront). Length: 5 months full time or 8 months part time. Format: Hybrid: online on weekdays, in person in Nairobi on Saturdays. Next intake: 11 January 2027. (Source: Data Science to AI Engineering, checked on 4 November 2026.)

Who it suits: Beginners who want to finish with models running behind an API or a dashboard, and can attend live sessions four times a week.

Strengths: A week-by-week curriculum that goes past analytics into MLOps, real-time machine learning and AI engineering, with a weekly project.

Limits: The first cohort starts on 11 January 2027, so there are no graduate outcomes to show yet, and McTaba Labs holds no TVETA accreditation.

Moringa School

Moringa School is a Nairobi coding school with a long Data Science Bootcamp and a shorter Excel and Power BI course.

Data Science Bootcamp. Price: KES 174,000 to 200,000. Length: 31 weeks full time; 50 weeks part time. Format: Hybrid or remote full time; remote part time. Next intake: 2 November 2026 (latest listed). (Source: Moringa School, checked on 4 November 2026.)

Who it suits: Career changers who can give most of a year and want the most structured support listed on this page.

Strengths: Full-time and part-time tracks, a curriculum built with Flatiron School (its claim), and 12 months of graduate support.

Limits: It asks for some Python, college education and a high laptop specification. Moringa says it is TVETA accredited; we could not confirm that on TVETA's register in our check.

Strathmore University (@iLabAfrica)

Strathmore University's @iLabAfrica centre in Nairobi runs short data certificates: Data Analytics and Visualization, an Intermediate Certificate in Data Science, and Power BI.

Who it suits: KCSE leavers with strong grades, and graduates who want a university-issued certificate in short steps.

Strengths: A university certificate, two intakes a year, and a ladder from analytics to data science.

Limits: Length, format and projects are not published, and the analytics certificate asks for a B plain with B in Maths and English.

Ubunifu College

Ubunifu College is a Nairobi college with a five-month Data Science course and a three-month foundations course.

Who it suits: Learners who want a mid-priced Nairobi course and are ready to ask for details before they pay.

Strengths: Published fees and lengths, and reviews on Course Report.

Limits: Format, intakes, prerequisites, projects and accreditation are not published.

Zindua School

Zindua School is a Nairobi coding school with a five-month Data Science Core course and a shorter Data Analytics course.

Data Science Core. Price: KES 130,000 upfront to 150,000 in 5 payments. Length: 5 months full time; 8 months part time. Format: Hybrid or remote; part time. Next intake: 9 November (full time); 4 January (part time). (Source: Zindua School, checked on 4 November 2026.)

Who it suits: Career changers who want to start soon, and working professionals who need evening and Saturday classes.

Strengths: Full-time intakes every two months, a deployed final project, and a fee table with the total for every plan.

Limits: Paying in instalments raises the total, a STEM background is recommended, and no accreditation is published.

Several schools above beat ours for particular people. Fairly put:

• Choose Moringa if you want a full-time remote option, a part-time pace of almost a year, or graduate support that runs for a year after you finish.
• Choose Zindua if you want to start before January: its full-time hybrid track takes a new cohort every two months.
• Choose LuxDevHQ if price decides it and you still want a teacher and an internship stage.
• Choose ALX, Coursera or DataCamp if cash is the hard limit and you can keep a routine with nobody checking. Join a study group to replace the review a cohort gives.
• Choose eMobilis if you already code and only want machine learning.
• Choose Strathmore's certificates or a degree if your target employer screens for a university name.

Universities run longer and cost more in total, but they give a qualification some employers screen for. Two examples: the Open University of Kenya's Bachelor of Data Science costs KES 79,000 a year online (OUK, checked on 4 November 2026), and USIU-Africa's on-campus BSc costs KES 220,750 a semester (Kenyan students) (USIU-Africa fee structure, checked on 4 November 2026).
